Ash Singh may be the greatest modern benefactor the turban ever had. Driven by a desire to enlighten the world about Sikhs, who make up the majority of turban-wearers in the Western world; inspired by the grand style and sweep of turban diversity in India; and hoping to prod turbans into the fashion mainstream, Ash launched Rate My Turban back in 2005. Since then, he has accepted submissions and ratings from more than 20 countries and millions of users. Like all sites that open the door to uploading photos, Rate My Turban has faced a certain number of malcontents. Ash acknowledges that, in the beginning, he saw some defamatory images—or "hate turbans"—come in. But he says that as the community has grown, the number has dropped. We're glad to hear it. As for the head crown Ash himself rates the highest? The greatest couturier in Paris couldn't come up with something more fabulous.
