Dear readers of Yahoo! Picks,
We're sorry to say that Picks has stopped updating. After 12 years, we're moving on to new projects and fresh ways of highlighting cool sites across the Web. We'll still be here in different guises, like on Yahoo! Green writing about eco-friendly sites, or Yahoo! Answers calling out cool questions, or on the Yahoo! Buzz Log, sifting through what people are searching for online. And the Yahoo! Picks archive will remain available to anyone who wants to wander in. Thanks for your support and attention all these years.
We leave you with Airborne Cats, one of our favorite Flickr photo collections—and a past Pick.
All best,
Yahoo! Picks

Beer is no longer the best editor. Sad.

I too am sorry to see this feature go! I'm going to miss it. It's true...one less reason to visit my Yahoo page...

Oh man. Thanks for ruining 2008 for me. This was one of my favorite RSS feeds. It's a real shame because Yahoo Picks is basically what Yahoo used to be. With Picks being dissolved, it's like something about Yahoo's past has died too. As a fellow writer, it also depresses me a little bit because I thought Picks demonstrated that writers could make a meaningful contribution to web companies. I had ambitions of one day joining your team, but I guess this is another battle that has been lost. :(

Any chance someone might tell us exactly what those "fresh ways of highlighting cool sites across the Web" might be?

Aw shucks! I really loved Yahoo! Magazine and I was so sad when publication stopped. I then was sooo happy that I could get some of that good stuff from Yahoo! Picks. I have emailed and forwarded so many of your columns and picks and have impressed my brother so many times, I might add. Not an easy thing to do.
Well, thank you for so many wonderful sites and if there is any thing like it anywhere on the web, let me know.

This is a big mistake by YAHOO; it's almost as bad as Comodore getting out of the PC business or DEC not getting into the PC business. I'll really miss you guys.

Is really a shame... I actually moved to using Yahoo years ago when NCSA (Mosaic) stopped doing their top sites of the day. Is one of the things I really appreciated that Yahoo offered that others didn't. Sad to see it go and I hope that someone offers a good substitute out there!
