Some songwriters know the secret to creating a catchy American standard. Irving Berlin was in on the gig. So was Cole Porter. And Rodgers & Hammerstein. Wander through this magical site, and you might slip an entertainment empire onto the list, too: the Walt Disney Company. In one visit to this blog devoted to covers of Disney songs, we listened to Usher's rendition of a "Tarzan" tune, Jimmy Cliff's take on "The Lion King," The Supremes revisiting "Pinocchio," and Bobby McFerrin's version of that magical "Cinderella" melody, "Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo." Put it together and what have you got? Bibbidi-bobbidi-wonderful. The mouse's oeuvre has inspired artists of every musical stripe, from Louis Armstrong to Tom Waits. The site's only been around since July, but it's already drawn guest contributions from fantastic audio bloggers. As another source of classic American tunes would say, "'S marvelous."

Were you aware that Walt Disney had a furnished apartment on Disneyland's Main Street? We can't decide if that's perfectly reasonable or maybe a little strange. The Orange County Register presents this multimedia tour of Walt's crib hosted by Disney historian Tim O'Day. We are, however, very confident in our disapproval of the décor: lots of tassels and crushed red velvet. It looks like either a cozy, grandmotherly place or a 19th-century den of iniquity. You're invited to click on various items in the apartment to hear Mr. O'Day go into detail on objects like the Victrola and the rotary phone. We especially liked the grilled cheese maker in the kitchenette.

The happiest souvenirs on Earth live with Mark Atkinson, who has collected at least one item from each of Disneyland's 50 years of operation. By shopping at the park and scouring online auctions, he's amassed over 200 Goofy treasures. View-Master Discs let youngsters relive the thrill of Adventureland in 1956, while kids in 1985 got to experience the Magic Kingdom through Nintendo. Mysteries abound in the Haunted Mansion Secret Panel Chest, but the Indiana Jones Adventure Decoder Card explains it all. Back when the park opened in 1955, admission was $1 for adults, fifty cents for kids, and the Disneyland Fun Box and Official Frontierland Game probably didn't cost much either. Who knows what the prices would be in today's Disney Dollars.

Only at the Magic Kingdom do otherwise normal, well-adjusted adults become fawning groupies. Case in point: this loving tribute to Disney's 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea: The Ride. For a guy who states "The 20K ride was so good I can't even talk about it," Dave, the proprietor of the site, manages to say a lot. As a 3-year-old, Dave took his first and only ride to the bottom of Disney's man-made sea. As an adult, he's gone to great lengths (or is it depths?) to compile photos and videos of a now defunct attraction. While the pictures are definitely worth a look, the site's real treats are the interviews with the "20Kers," the fearless sailors who worked on the submarines. Dive beneath the surface of this site and you may discover why the ride had such an effect on Dave and why it started a "lifelong infatuation with the undersea world."

Kids of all ages love anything Disney, so for a man to declare that he's "Disney's No. 1 Fan," he better have the goods (and the Goofys, Little Mermaids, and Mickeys) to prove it. George Reiger, the self-proclaimed top fan, just can't seem to get enough Disney in his life. George sports more than 1,500 Disney tattoos, proving that his devotion to all things Disney knows no bounds or equals. In addition to inking his body with popular and obscure Disney characters, George custom built a Disney house that contains over 19,000 Disney items. Still not convinced? His top 10 list might change your mind. Our favorite reason: "He has already spent well over $900,000 on his Disney love." This is one guy who puts his money where his mouse is.
