You can't get past FFFFOUND!'s masthead without knowing that exclamation points are welcome here. On the "about" page, we encountered not one but three statements punctuated with great enthusiasm: "Find, bookmark and share your favorite images!!" "An inspirational image-bookmarking experience!!" And our favorite: "Learn learn learn! And add!"

The exuberance begins to seem warranted once you return to the main gallery. Here, image-lovers have gathered a wildly diverse assembly of photos, typography, illustration, and graphic design. A  Surrealist clip-art collage leads to a vintage etching of a puffer fish, which flows into a woodprint-inspired text design and a classic black and white photo of boxers. In the collections built up by some of the site's heaviest users—some with nearly 2,000 entries to their account—more eclecticism pours forth. We felt like we had wandered into the private holdings of a collector who is passionate and just slightly, and adorably, mad.

And we loved it. FFFFOUND! You inspire us!!!

Oh for the days when living rooms were big, cars were bigger, and everyone still wore hats. Will the 1950s ever release us from its shiny, chrome-plated grasp? We think not. Just to prove it, the recently overhauled Plan 59 is here to celebrate "the commercial art of mid-century America." Hooray for the tail fins! Huzzah for the sectional couches! And hallelujah for well-intentioned captains of industry! There's so much to revel in here, it's almost impossible to pluck out the best. Here are two places to start:

The shrimp, bless him, prefers southern rap, sweetbread, and lavish meals. Well, who doesn't? At the same time, he dislikes werewolves, sardines, and fanfare. For a celebrity creature, he's quite modest. Not to be outdone, his fellow beasties all express different, but dearly held, preferences. The bunny likes tacos, but hates clowns. The anteater prefers triptychs and trivia contests. And Miss Froggy really, really detests body odor. All of these likes and dislikes are delivered by reptiles, mammals, and insects sporting nothing but their birthday suits and a clean pair of undies. Some of the animals—the bumblebee, the octopus, and the platypus, for instance—wear tighty-whiteys. The rooster dons brightly polka-dotted shorts, the giraffe heart-patterned boxers, and the butterfly a bright pink bra-and-panty set. All look googly-eyed, wide-lipped, and a little bit cold. But terrifically friendly, we're sure.

In the world of Swedish illustrator Stina Wirsén, diners peer skeptically at their food, models don elaborate fly-people getups, and crowds navigate the polyglot streets of New York's outer boroughs. Smudgy, stylized urban scenes are shot through with whimsy, melancholy, and, sometimes, a combination of both. For years, Wirsén ran the illustration department at Sweden's national paper Dagens Nyheter—and it shows. A good chunk of her work reflects a journalist's eye and suggests a story about to happen: hipsters crowd a late night 7-Eleven; a sushi chef turns, knife in hand; a body punctuated with an acupuncturist's needles waits on the table. Sometimes, she allows her satirical side to slip out, and Woody Allen finds himself speaking "tweed," while Dr. Phil's head tops the bodies of all those he empathizes with so fervently. Her fashion images capture the eccentricity and casual flair of Scandinavian style, on or off the catwalk. In all the illustrations, she isolates the few perfect details and leaves the rest to the imagination.

It all started with John Hodgman, "notable non-historian" and author of "The Areas of My Expertise." In that questionable tome, he includes a "comprehensive" catalog of 700 "notable historical hobo names." One thing led to another, and a call went out for the monikers to be illustrated. Cartoonists enlisted, artists of mischievous mind came on board, and an army of doodlers rose to the challenge. Now, all 700 of the list's characters boast at least one portrait. Some, like Bazino, Bazino, The Kid Whose Hair Is on Fire and Mr. Wilson Fancy Pants, scored a record seven. We were quite charmed by the looks of Freak Le Freak, the Freakster. Rex Spangler, the Bedazzler wowed us. And somehow, Foreign Tomas, the Strangetalker lulled us into appreciation. How long will the project continue now that all 700 hoboes sport at least one likeness? We refer that question to Guesstimate Jones.
