Few cities in America boast as many rabid sports fans as Boston. With its scores of colleges and professional teams representing every major sport, the city offers its citizens ample opportunity to cheer its local heroes. And the citizens respond -- not just to the teams, but to the venerated arenas, stadiums, and fields they play on. This site honors 15 of the city's most prized sports venues with images dating from 1872 through 1972. On display are both the world-renown and obscure -- from the now defunct Boston Garden (the "Gahden" to locals) to The Cyclorama with its castle-like turrets to the granddaddy of all baseball parks, Fenway. The city's temples of sport include several firsts, including the Boston Arena, the world's oldest ice hockey arena with the first artificial ice, and Harvard Stadium, the first stadium built for U.S. college athletics. So step in and grab a seat in the bleachers.

Oh, the glory of Fenway Park! Oh, the charm of Wrigley! Oh, shut up already. There's been so much written about the "cathedrals" of big league baseball over the years, but nary a word on the stadiums of the rough and tumble NFL. What gives? Fortunately this site rectifies the slight by taking an in-depth look at all the stadiums of the NFL - past, present, and future. Of course there are the things you'd expect -- seating charts, photos, and a history of each stadium. But this site offers a few surprises like the chart comparing each stadium's capacity and cost to build, and a section dedicated to stadiums that used to be (and, well, aren't missed in the slightest).
