When it comes to hedonism, we imagine the Playboy pool and grotto area might be the apex. It's more sedate then it was back in the heyday of the '70s and '80s, but still—this is where bodacious bunnies catch their daily rays. That's where these three dreamers and their blog come into the frame, toting buckets of chlorine. Attempting to score jobs as poolboys at the mansion, they're documenting their quest for the world to see. Cheer them on as they score an interview with Playboy radio, marvel at the response they received from the esteemed Playboy Advisor, and peruse the many letters of recommendation they've garnered from folks testifying to their pool-cleaning abilities. Whether they make it past the mansion's hallowed gates has yet to be determined, but their gumption has to count for something. Right, Mr. Hefner?

Despite what you've seen on "The Office," gentle teasing at work usually indicates that your coworkers like you. They forward you funny emails? Good sign. They play a friendly prank? It's just for laughs. In Walt's case, his colleagues expressed their fondness for him by taking to his car with a case or more of sticky notes. They covered the tires, plastered the roof, smothered the bumper, and lavished extra care on the side view mirrors and gas cap. Not only did they meticulously service Walt's ride, but they practically glowed while doing it. "About a dozen" employees lent their paper-affixing skills to the job, pulling it off in less than two hours. By the time they were done, Walt's slick champagne-colored Jag had been transformed into an amazing Technicolor novelty car that's ready to take notes. We just wish we could have witnessed Walt's response to this flourish of workplace love.

Dining out is an experience of the unknown. Sometimes everything goes smoothly. Other times, disaster strikes. Waiter Rant chronicles both the good and bad (but mostly the bad) of one waiter's life on the front lines of the food service industry. Ranging from poignant to hilarious to flat-out brutal, the posts offer a glimpse into the mind of he who pours the wine and recites the specials for those of us used to being served. We won't spoil the site's many surprises, but if you remember just one thing from this blog, let it be this: Never argue or gossip with your date in front of the waiter—he's listening, and there's a chance he could be blogging.

Submitted for your approval: a series of twelve animations chronicling "one man's struggle to cope with the soul-sapping, will-to-live draining, life-force mugging, morale crushing experiences of work." Laith Bahrani, aka Monkeehub, is a brilliant animator who also happens to be gifted/cursed with a keen eye for black humor. The punch line for every one of these cartoons is the same (self-induced death as a result of boredom), but that doesn't make them any less satisfying or hilarious. Our hero bravely asphyxiates, immolates, and generally extinguishes himself to escape the horrible banality of the workplace, and he always scores laughs in the process. The web site scored Bahrani a great Radiohead video, as well as some other fun projects, so life can't be all that bad, can it? Well, maybe it can.

YD Industries has been at the forefront of every important social and commercial trend since 1985. Bathtub gargoyles, pool gondolas, tofu-fed beef, you name it, YD's done it. Here on the long-awaited official site, you'll find their complete catalog and a nifty Media Barn that features all kinds of audio-visual treats like Gloria Estefan humming Bach and a fun tire-burning fitness video. But for a sneak peek inside the dynamic creative cauldron that is YD, head straight to "The View from Here," an employee blog by H. V. Smith. H.V. dishes on...
  • Work: "A tip for Linda in payables: Your repeated handing back of the PVO to me with no note or indication what is wrong with it is both passive AND aggressive."
  • Life: "Yu-gi Oh. What the heck? Seriously."
  • The cafeteria: "Thank GOD for bagel dog Wednesdays at Order Up!"
...and so much more. Thanks H.V., and thanks YD!
