Several weeks ago, we featured Cube News 1, the online "newscast" that dispenses advice to office drones and cubicle slaves everywhere. Now, we touch base with Kim Waldauer, the show's anchor and creative force, to find out how it feels to vent about past bosses on the Web, who's writing her from China, and what's next for this broadcast comic...
Hey Kim, you've been running Cube News 1 for almost a year. Looking back, what surprises you about the experience?
That I would be having so much fun still! The problem now is that we still do Cube News 1 in our free time, and there is a growing demand for more frequent content; we'd like it to be something we dedicate all our time to. There are episodes sitting in my notebook that we just haven't gotten to yet.
How did you get started?
I started this after serving a five-year sentence in a cubicle, as a way for me to cope with some of the b.s. that comes with the job. I did some research and found out that the majority of people working in the U.S. work out of a cubicle, so I knew it had an audience. Read the full profile...

We've all been there. The co-worker who keeps swiping the Hot Pockets. The neighbors who get free-form with their garbage. The roommate that never does the dishes. So what do we do? We leave a note, of course! Sometimes, a simple Post-it does the trick, other times it's good to get a little more descriptive. Just one thing: Make darn sure it's polite-but-oh-so-scornful so you get the chance to see it posted on today's Pick. Not every missive has to threaten physical violence. Maybe sometimes you can call on the WWJD brigade. And of course, everyone loves a cautionary warning with a sense of humor behind it, whether it be inventive or merely, uh, subtle? So if your grammar stinks or your mother tongue is German, no matter! Be respectful and leave a response. Just try not to go overboard, m'kay? Thanks!!!!!!

It's a little known fact that Darth Vader, the great Jedi warrior-gone-bad, has a younger brother named Chad. For this "less charismatic" family member, the Force doesn't always come through. Though Chad takes pride in his position as day shift manager at a Wisconsin grocery store, the floor staff doesn't respect him, the general manager resists being called Emperor, and the cute check-out clerk isn't interested, sorry. When a customer attempts to return a bag of stale potato chips, Chad hisses, "Yesssssssssss. I feeeeel your anger." When he is demoted to the night shift, he dutifully tackles the necessary chores—"now, the waxing of the floor is complete"—but then gets his cape stuck in the cleaning machine. We won't give anything away, but later episodes show Chad drowning his sorrows in chocolatinis, being visited by an Obi Wan-esque ghost, and getting fired by the real-life mayor of Madison. It's all in a day's work for a sibling of the Sith lord.
